Halifax RCMP, in association with multiple different police units, are investigating a shooting that occurred overnight Sunday.
According to a press release by RCMP, at approximately 12:45 AM, Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call of a 21-year-old man having been shot while walking along Hornes Rd. in Eastern Passage.
The man, who was walking with a female, was shot when a passing car stopped next to the two walking. The man was rushed to hospital, where he was later passed away.
RCMP say they do not believe this was a random incident, and are now working in cooperation with the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from the RCMP Forensics Identification Section and Halifax Regional Police’s K-9 unit.
