Those who work for 911 may have a little bit of a shock. Around 50 people may lose their job due to the criteria being upgraded.Civilian workers of the Edmonton area were told that if they do not have the Emergency Response course, offered by Grant McEwan, they will be unemployed as of September 1st, 2018.
The cost to have this course is around five thousand dollars, and takes eight months to complete. On the other hand, the course has been greatly filled and officials give an estimate of 2 years until slots will be opened.
For those released from their jobs, they may be replaced with police evaluators to take over 911 until suitable people are found. This may cost the city of Edmonton well over half a million dollars.
